DIY RAID 5 NAS Server Worklog

This blog contains full instructions, including links and  pictures of all hardware needed, to build a 1+ TB NAS. Windows XP is used as the software, while a Highpoint RocketRAID hardware RAID card takes care of the drives.

I did some research into building a network attached storage (NAS) server, and bought the appropriate hardware online. I’ll cover the steps I took to build a homebrew NAS server capable of offering 1Tb of redundant RAID 5 storage.

Related to mounting the drives in 5.25″ drive bays, Did you think about using a “hot swap sata enclosure”? I seem to remember the Highpoint controllers are compatible with hot swapping.

I was curious if you ever thought of changing the layout of your
site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.

But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could
connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two
images. Maybe you could space it out better?
